Transportation

How to get here and get around Oshkosh

*** To be picked up or dropped off at the Appleton (ATW) airport, please fill out the Plone Symposium shuttle request form. ***

Getting to UW Oshkosh

By Plane

The recommended airport to fly in and out of is the Appleton Airport (ATW).  Traveling from the airport to Oshkosh is an estimated 30 minutes. Here is a list of recommended ground transportation options.

Another regional airport you could consider flying in and out of is Green Bay (GRB), which is 45 minutes north of Oshkosh.

You will get a wider selection of flights into Milwaukee (MKE) airport, which is about 1.5 hours south of Oshkosh. MKE is a sizeable airport with a full range of rental car options.

Further afield, Chicago O'Hare (ORD) has the largest number of flights. ORD is, however, 3.5 hours south of Oshkosh.

If you have your own pilot's license, consider flying directly into Oshkosh's own general aviation Wittman Field airport (OSH), home of the Experimental Aircraft Association!

By Car

The recommended highway to get to Oshkosh is Hwy 41.  If you are coming from a northern location (Appleton Airport) to Oshkosh see this page.  If you are coming from a southern location to Oshkosh see this page.

About Us

Your hosts for the Plone Symposium Midwest

The Plone Symposium Midwest is brought to you by the UW Oshkosh Plone team (http://uwosh.edu/plone), who have been deploying and developing high performance Plone sites since 2004.

About the UW Oshkosh Plone Team

UW Oshkosh's Plone team includes alumni, staff and student employees from many campus units: Polk Library, Reeve Union, Residence Life, Information Technology (comprising Academic Computing, Administrative Computing, and Learning Technologies), College of Business, and Integrated Marketing and Communications.

In addition, our Plone-based campus Intranet project has wide participation from other administrative units, helping us modernize the way we collaborate and share internal information with our faculty, staff, and students, as well as converting paper processes into faster and more efficient online workflow applications.

All told, the UW Oshkosh Plone team has deployed and continues to manage and support almost 300 Plone sites, for uses including external marketing, intranets, and online business processes ("workflow applications").

The UW Oshkosh Plone team includes a co-chair of PloneEdu (collaboration of K-12 and higher education institutions using Plone), two members of the Plone Foundation, and members of the Plone User Interface, Framework, and Security teams.
